Three Kisses

I love kisses. In public. In private. On the lips or any other exquisite place a lover might choose to bestow one. I like soft ones, tender ones, sometimes ones that are a little rough. I especially like kisses that make a statement. My own experience has been that sometimes kissing can be a more intimate experience than anything else. And seriously, if you can't kiss a guy, how might you ever find yourself naked with him?

And then there are the kisses, the light and feathery ones that say we like you. We like what you have to say. We enjoyed your book. We're looking forward to the next installment.

Like the ones The Bondage Virgin just got from Read Our Lips! Book Reviews.

Three kisses means they think it a sweet and good read. Good enough to offer a free give-a-way. So stop on over to their website to read an excerpt. Enter to win or buy an extra copy for a friend.

In the meantime, I'm working on finishing the second in the trilogy.

When They Say They Love You

I've written long enough to know that not everyone will like what I write. Or even get what I was trying to convey. I'm finding that is doubly true when it comes to writing erotica. The nature of what the genre is brings up stuff for the reader. The desire is to light up their senses and get the juices flowing. To make them smile in the most mischievous of ways. But it doesn't always happen. Especially if the erotica includes a foray into bondage.

I won't pretend it doesn't matter. We all seek approval. Authors are not any different. We strive for 4 and 5 star reviews and we cringe when we get less. But when we get one that has an excerpt like this in it....well that sends the adrenalin racing in the most pleasurable of ways.  Especially when it comes from  someone who writes this stuff herself.

"I loved Ms. Dantes' story premise and her ability to let you see deeply into her character's minds. I found the following passage brilliant and it shows some of the author's insight into BDSM.
"Men had always complimented me. I had always known I was attractive. But there was something about listening to him say it while restrained and being forced to really look at me that magnified the experience.""

A Moment

I open the door and you are there
Your pale blue silk tie is loosened
Your collar unbuttoned
Your hands straddle the frame of the door
As if you have been waiting for hours

There is a moment
You do not smile at me
But I see it in your eyes
You circle my waist
Push me against the back of the door
As you shut it with one foot
One arm holding my hands behind me
The other locking each bolt
Securing the chain
Loosening the sash of my robe

Welcome to Erotic Musings!

I write erotica for my pleasure and yours. I've been doing it for a long time. It gets my juices going, puts a glow in my cheeks, a smile on my lips and when I am really on, a prance to my step. But I've been reticent until now to share it with the world. For so many reasons, not the least of which is that I have a life, other books as well as entrepreneurial endeavors that don't necessarily jive with writing about bondage and discipline and hot sex.

But then things starting happening. EL James publishes 50 Shades of Grey and makes erotica, specifically that in the BDSM genre, mainstream. Everywhere I turn there is another article about whose reading this stuff and who is writing it.  Then one day I download a delightful satire of the fairy tale entitled Fifty Shades of Alice in Wonderland. I read that the author is, like me, an author of other books, but is doing this under a pen name. That's when I decided it was time for my erotica to come out of hiding.

I published The Bondage Virgin on September 23, 2012, the first in a trilogy chronicling the relationship of Rebecca and Will under the pseudonym Veronica J. Dantes. I created a Twitter profile for her, an Amazon author page and a Goodreads account. And then I thought, why stop there? Veronica needs a blog, a place to muse, to lounge,  to share erotic tidbits, a place on the Internet she can call home. Which brings me to today and my first post on Erotic Musings.

I have no idea how often I,  and by that I mean Veronica, will be posting here or exactly what Erotic Musings will look. But that is the great thing about creating something new. I don't have to. All I have to do is start. Besides, when writing under a pseudonym no one is really watching! Or are they?
